While many applicants have become accustomed to longer validity periods\u2014particularly the more recent five-year EADs\u2014USCIS has now returned some categories to much shorter terms. The agency states that the goal is to increase the frequency of vetting and strengthen security reviews.<\/p>\n<p>These policy updates also incorporate requirements from recently enacted legislation (H.R. 1 \u2013 <em>One Big Beautiful Bill Act<\/em>), which further limits EAD validity for applicants in Temporary Protected Status (TPS), parole categories, and related classifications.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\"><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\t\t<div id=\"wd-693855e9e65ee\" class=\"wd-text-block wd-wpb reset-last-child wd-rs-693855e9e65ee text-left\">\n\t\t\t<h2>Which EAD Categories Will Now Be Limited to 18 Months?<\/h2>\n<p>Effective for all applications pending or filed on or after <strong>December 5, 2025<\/strong>, the maximum validity period for both initial and renewal EADs will be reduced from <strong>5 years<\/strong> back to <strong>18 months<\/strong> for the following groups:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Individuals admitted as refugees<\/li>\n<li>Individuals granted asylum<\/li>\n<li>Individuals granted withholding of deportation or removal<\/li>\n<li>Individuals with pending asylum or withholding of removal applications<\/li>\n<li>Individuals with pending adjustment of status applications under INA \u00a7245<\/li>\n<li>Individuals with pending applications for suspension of deportation, cancellation of removal, or NACARA relief<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applicants in these categories should expect a more frequent renewal cycle and should plan accordingly to avoid employment interruptions.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\"><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-6\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\t\t<div id=\"wd-6938571e7962b\" class=\"wd-text-block wd-wpb reset-last-child wd-rs-6938571e7962b text-left\">\n\t\t\t<h2>Which Categories Are Now Restricted to One Year of Validity?<\/h2>\n<p>Under <strong>H.R. 1<\/strong>, which became law on July 4, 2025, and was formally implemented by USCIS through a Federal Register notice on <strong>July 22, 2025<\/strong>, the following categories will now receive EADs valid for <strong>one year<\/strong>, or until the end of their parole or TPS period\u2014whichever is earlier:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Individuals paroled as refugees<\/li>\n<li>Individuals granted TPS<\/li>\n<li>Individuals granted parole<\/li>\n<li>Individuals with a pending TPS application<\/li>\n<li>Spouses of entrepreneur parolees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These changes apply to all Form I-765 applications filed or pending on or after <strong>July 22, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-6\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\t\t<div id=\"wd-693857378221e\" class=\"wd-image wd-wpb wd-rs-693857378221e text-center\">\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1080\" src=\"https:\/\/ariasvilla.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Martha-Arias-Arias-Villa-Law-Immigration-Legal-Documents.png\" class=\"attachment-full size-full\" alt=\"Immigration Lawyer Martha L.
