Important Update: New Form I-131F for Keeping Families Together

Martha Arias - Immigration Law Keeping Families Together

Starting August 19, 2024, USCIS will begin accepting requests using a new online form, Form I-131F, specifically for the Application for Parole in Place for certain noncitizen spouses and stepchildren of U.S. citizens. This form will help keep families together by allowing eligible family members to apply for parole in place through a streamlined online process.

US Department of Homeland Security

It’s important to note that USCIS will only accept this new form, and you must not file any requests before the official launch date. Each family member, including minors, must submit a separate form using their own USCIS online account. There is no paper version of this form; it must be filed online.

USCIS has provided a detailed Filing Guide on their website to help you with the application process, and they’ve updated the Key Questions and Answers section to address common concerns.

Please be cautious of immigration scams. USCIS will never contact you through personal social media accounts, request payments via phone or email, or direct you to unofficial websites. Always seek advice from authorized professionals, such as licensed attorneys or accredited representatives.

This new process is a vital step in keeping families united, and I encourage you to stay informed and follow the correct procedures.
