Hello everyone, thank you for joining us on this update! I’m Martha Arias, your immigration law attorney based in South Florida. Today, we discussed some key topics on immigration during our Instagram Live with Actualidad Radio. We covered the reopening of the USCIS field office in Quito, Ecuador, starting September 10, which will assist with processing certain asylum-related petitions, DNA collection for verification of family relationships, and fraud investigations. This is great news for those with family members abroad seeking to reunite through the I-730 process.
We also talked about the recent reinstatement of the humanitarian parole program for Venezuelans, Nicaraguans, and Cubans. Although it was paused in early August, it’s now back with stricter security measures to prevent fraud. Additionally, I provided updates on the visa availability for employment-based categories, highlighting that there are no more visas available for the fiscal year 2024 for certain categories. Lastly, we addressed concerns about the legal implications of child abuse and neglect cases, emphasizing how even attempted cases can lead to severe immigration consequences.
